Welcome to Michael Pascoe's plant database. This site grew out of 15 years of developing and teaching courses in plant identification at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario. I hope that in the next few years we will have representation from most plants that can be grown in Ontario gardens. This would include cultivated plants as well as weeds and perennials as well as annuals; perennials include all woody plants as well. The emphasis initially will be on evergreen and deciduous plants with perennials and annuals following later. I have given my opinion on most plants as the database is developed, and have had the opportunity to grow and observe most of them and in the case of the weeds remove them from my own gardens; this is a website of candid experience and opinion.
A good print reference (woody species) for this site is Michael Dirr's Manual of Cultivated Woody Plants, hence the reference to the Dirr number in the information side bar.
